A friend of mine was looking for some home-cooked food. Since neither of us is familiar with the Clanton area, I relied on Google for some recommendations. When we arrived, it seemed they were about to close for the day in the next 30 minutes or so. A few people rolled their eyes as one of the staff was breaking down the salad bar. After we arrived, two more tables arrived, so we were not the only visitors arriving later than I would have preferred. I was a bit skeptical from some of the looks that were being exchanged, but my friend was really craving home-style cooking. Once our waitress arrived to take our order, she was more pleasant than I had anticipated. She took our order without hesitation and even offered us dessert, which we were not charged for. The food was satisfactory, but I wonder if it was because of the time we arrived. If I am in the area again, I might give them a second chance. I have been a waitress myself and understand the desire to finish tasks and end the day. Additionally, I recognize that tips are an important part of a server’s income. My attitude while waiting tables was always to welcome and accommodate all customers.
